Meeting of Artington Conclave No 595

The Conclave was opened at the Guildford Masonic Centre at 5:00 pm on 2nd September 2013.

Artington Conclave was honoured to receive the Deputy Provincial Grand Supreme Ruler – R Wy Bro Lionel Mee, PGG together with total of nine Active Provincial Officers and four members of the Provincial Arch of Steel, who accompanying him. (Four Prov Officers and two members of the Arch of Steel are members of the Conclave). These officers were all introduced by the Deputy Provincial Grand Supreme Ruler and they added greatly to the numbers, and the atmosphere of the Conclave meeting.

The Installation of the 3rd Supreme Ruler of the Conclave – Bro Robert Shepherd, was carried out in an excellent manner by Wy Bro Jack Love, ProvGV, at what was for most of us, the first meeting of the new Masonic season. The Commissioning was carried out by R Wy Bro Lionel Mee in a sincere and meaning full manner – I think this was the first occasion he has had the opportunity to carry out this ceremony. The explanation of the weapons was given by Wy Bro Jack Love,

During the appointment of officers, Wy Bro Jack Love, ProvGV, was appointed as Director of Ceremonies which will enable Wy Bro David Shelton to concentrate solely on his duties as Treasurer.

The Conclave was saddened to receive a letter of resignation from one of the Founders, Wy Bro Brian Kemp, PProvGReg, who has had to resign on health reasons. He is currently living in a Care Home at Bagshot, which has made life much more comfortable for him. Anyone wishing his contact details please contact the Conclave Secretary.

The accounts were presented and showed that the Conclave is in a satisfactory financial position, and the Treasurer was pleased to announce that the subs would remain at the present level.

The Deputy Provincial Grand Supreme Ruler – R Wy Bro Lionel Mee, PGG, was most generous with his praise for the Ceremony conducted by Wy Bro Jack Love, ProvGV, and thanked everyone for their efforts.

The Conclave was closed and afterwards 20 Brethren dinned together at the festive board. The meal was cooked by Vince Parker, who has resumed the cooking of the Masonic meals at Guildford.
