A Princes Degree for Warlingham Conclave

A meeting of Warlingham Conclave No 291 took place on Tuesday the 29th of March 2022 at Nutfield. Attending the Conclave meeting that afternoon was our Provincial Grand Supreme Ruler, R.Wy.Bro. Colin Beerling. Making an Official Visit to the Consistory meeting earlier that afternoon was the Provincial Grand Summus of the Order of the Scarlet Cord in Surrey, R.Dist.Comp. Arnold Long, accompanied by his Escorting Officer, Dist.Comp. Ian Bloodworth.

The Conclave was opened by Wy.Bro. Chris Eley, Immediate Past Supreme Ruler, who welcomed all the guests and visitors, with a special welcome to the Provincial Grand Supreme Ruler. R.Wy.Bro. Colin Beerling the Provincial Grand Supreme Ruler was saluted with seven.

The main item on the agenda was to admit to the rank of Prince of the Order Brother Clifford Beal. A Report was given and the I.P.S.R. accompanied by the Grand Officers left to greet Prince Jonathan who had requested a Conference. On their return Princes of the Order were allowed to remain but all below that rank retired. Those remaining proved themselves and an Assembly of Princes was opened. An Alarm was given, and the Sentinel announced that Bro. Clifford Beal craved to be admitted to the rank of Prince of the Order. After the blessing of prayer, the candidate promised to persevere throughout the ceremony, and listened to various scripture readings. He was then entrusted with the password and left the meeting.

After another Alarm he was re-admitted, and the origin of the Order explained. Bro. Clifford was then Obligated and entrusted with the secrets of the Order. The meaning of the Challenge, and the Lecture, were given in an excellent manner by R.Wy.Bro. Colin Beerling, and he was decorated with the jewel of the Order. After sharing the Cup of Goodwill, the Assembly was closed and all brethren admitted. The I.P.S.R, Wy.Bro. Chris Eley, after performing a first-rate ceremony, resumed in the First Degree.

Further to Notice of Motion, the Secretary proposed that Wy.Bro. Bryan Elphick be made an honorary member after over 42 years’ service to Warlingham Conclave. This was approved by the Brethren.

R.Wy.Bro. Colin Beerling spoke about Provincial Grand Conclave and how the date would now have to be on Saturday the 11th of June, and that the Conclave will have five of their members being honoured. Our thanks were recorded to all our visitors for their admirable support.
