I am planning to form a new Scarlet Cord Conclave in the west of the Province during 2010 to complement the Hill of Zion Scarlet Cord Conclave designated to meet at Croydon in the east of the Province. Together with the existing one at Surbiton (The Scarlet Cord Conclave of Surrey No 518), we plan to have three such conclaves in Surrey before 21 July 2010, when the Ancient and Masonic Order of the Scarlet Cord becomes a sovereign body. This will enable the Province and its three consistories (as the conclaves will then become) to attain “Time Immemorial” status.

It seems probable that Guildford will prove to be the best location for West Surrey. When considering names, I would suggest Funiculus Coccineus Conclave, as a possibility. Funiculus Coccineus being Latin for Scarlet Cord.

It will meet twice a year at dates and times to be discussed. One meeting will be the installation of the President and investiture of officers. At this and the other meeting, any of the first three grades of the Scarlet Cord may be worked. Should demand require it, additional emergency meetings can be held.

Initially, the OSM Conclave will require the usual officers who will take up offices in the Consistory to be agreed. We need a minimum of 15 petitioners – but preferably a few more.

If all works out according to plan, we shall consecrate the two new conclaves on the same day. I will consecrate the Hill of Zion Scarlet Cord Conclave so that R Wy Bro Brian Wareham can become a Founder, likewise Brian will consecrate the Funniculs Coccineus Conclave (or whatever name is decided upon) so that I can become a Founder of that one.

Also planned is another OSM Conclave to meet at Guildford (or elsewhere in West Surrey), so that we will have 6 OSM Conclaves feeding to 3 Consistories.

Those interested in becoming Founders should make contact as appropriate – brethren need not be members of the Scarlet Cord initially but must be admitted in due course.
